I'm a journalism major because I was told to be one. My whole life teachers have told me that I'm a good writer. Hearing this sentiment echoed by teachers throughout my life, convinced me to major in Journalism.
My dad would tell me, "You're a good writer. You should do Journalism."
And I said, "Ok."
And it's true. For the most part, I do enjoy writing. But, if I weren't a Journalism major, I'd probably major in Exercise Science or Psychology. Maybe even both, or major in one and minor in the other (some variation).
I guess it's natural to pursue something that you're good at. While majoring in Journalism, I've learned a lot about the Journalism field and the state of journalism as a whole. I've developed valuable skills that can translate to many different professions. But sometimes I wish I majored in Psychology or Exercise Science.
I'm not sure if my career choice in the future will have a heavy focus on Journalism, but the skills I've learned these past four years will definitely help me. And they'll help me in probably any field I go into.
I wonder if I made the right decision. I think I'll always wonder. Regardless, I'm anxious to see what the future holds.
